The University of Iowa Data Warehouse 
Access Procedures

Access to the University Data Warehouse information is granted on a subject area basis.  Each subject area  has a data steward responsible for the approval of data access requests.  Each data steward, along with governing policies, determines the access privileges on a case by case basis.  Access to the University Data Warehouse can be solicited by using the forms found at the University Of Iowa Electronic Forms, Data Warehouse section.

Some of the University Data Warehouse subject areas are considered public information.  This does not imply that approval is not required, rather that once approval is granted that all information within that subject area becomes available to you.  Subject areas that are considered public information include General Ledger, Cumulative Compensation and Grant Accounting.

Other subject areas within the University Data Warehouse are more sensitive in nature, with privileges to that information governed by state and federal policies, as well as policies created and enforced by the University of Iowa.  Subject Areas that fall within these boundaries include Admissions, Cashiers, and Human Resource Information.  In these such cases the data stewards will not only grant approval for access to the information but will determine at which level of access you are privileged.   These levels can vary from only allowing certain tables, possibly certain columns, to content based restrictions (ex.  You can only see the students in the College of Engineering, Biomedical Engineering Major).
