The University of Iowa Data Warehouse 
Subject Areas

The University Data Warehouse currently houses the following information subject areas:    

Admissions

Information utilized by the Department of Admissions to recruit prospective students and to assist with the application and admittance of students to The University of Iowa.  Information on student recruitment trends, demographics, session and collegiate admittance patterns and  official counts can be found here.  Admissions Web Perl reports are available for authorized users.  Select users are also piloting the Business Objects Web Information Portal.

 

Cashiers

A collection of Cashiers and Accounts Receivable information; utilized to generate the standard monthly reports, summary level reports, and to provide ad-hoc querying capabilities on data distributed by the Cashiers office, available at the Cashiers DSS site.  

 

Cumulative Compensation

Information associated with the compensation of individuals at The University of Iowa including transaction details and aggregate summary levels by person, Master File Key (MFK) and pay period.  This data is the basis for the Cum Comp DSS Web Reports and can also be used for ad hoc reporting and querying. 

 

General Ledger

Information associated with the University accounting system, General Ledger Millenium (GL:M), including transaction details and aggregate summary levels.  Also available are lookup tables for each of the elements of the Master File Key (MFK) as well as reference information such as accounting period and amount classes.  This data is the basis for the GL DSS Web Reports and can also be used for ad hoc reporting and querying.

 

Grant Accounting

Information associated with the University of Iowa ’s post-award side of grant management, including grant-to-date summary financial data.  Also available is information pertaining to contacts, billing and Facilities and Administrative (F&A) rates.  This data is used in conjunction with GL DSS as the basis for the Grant DSS  Web Reports and can also be used for ad hoc reporting and querying.

 

Human Resources

A collection of Human Resource information including Benefit, Payroll, Position Management, Earnings Information, Vacation/Sick and much more.  Personnel management issues, personnel trends, demographic distributions, trending for vacation and sick usage are among the many uses of this information.  Reports and Ad-hoc Query is available at the HRIS Data Access site.  HRIS Self Service information resource also utilizes the University Data Warehouse.
