This page offers
a brief discussion of the accessibility features of the site. Just
like
anything else, making this sites accessible is a process therefore the
information here will be continuously updated. There are some features
that are currently difficult to use but we are working on them.
Below you will find
a description of some of the accessibility features of this site:
D
Accessibility Features
of this site:
1. The top of page
has an image about 10 pixels wide whose ALT Tag states: "Skip
ITS Navigation" and is also linked to an anchor that allows
the users to jump to the site navigation on the left. There is a
similar image in
the site navigation to the content on the right.
2. All images have
ALT tags describing them. The spacer images have an " "(space
surrounded by quotation marks) in the ALT tag to signify that they
are considered empty.
3. The anchors are
placed to allow the user to jump to the content areas of the page and
avoid the repetitive navigation.
4. All headings on
the page are implemented through the use of styles instead of using
bold
or increasing the font size. This implementation alerts users that they
have reached a heading.
5. The form for searching
has defined "Name" and "Label" attributes but the form is
still a work in progress.
6. Even though it
cannot be seen on the image above, the bottom of the page has a contact
email that visitors
can use to suggest changes to the accessibility features of the site
or request additional accommodation.
