DTV Transition and University of Iowa Cable
Over-the-air broadcast television completed the transition
analog to digital signals in June 2009. The DTV transition applies only to television received over
the air with an antenna and will have no impact on services offered by
University of Iowa Cable. We have already taken precautions so that University
of Iowa Cable service will not be disrupted. The DTV transition will not affect
University of Iowa Cable services in any way. You will not need to change or
update equipment in any way in order to continue to receive the cable service
you have today.
For viewers who have or are planning to get a digital television, we are already
broadcasting DTV / HDTV signals. We use the "HDTV Cable" standard (also known as
256QAM). All of our DTV channels are free and broadcast "in the clear" without
encryption. See our full channel lineup for more
details.
For more information about the DTV transition, please see:
Campus Video Services are only available on The
University of Iowa campus to University colleges, department, faculty, staff and
students.
