Sample of UITV Acquisition Programs - Windows Media File, 2 minutes, 30 seconds

Production

Programming on UITV can be live or tape delay. For live productions, a UITV crew takes equipment to various locations around campus that have cable feeds back to the UITV control room. Major event locations, such as Iowa Memorial Union, Carver-Hawkeye Arena, and Studio 150 in North Lindquist Center are “cable ready.” If you have an event that you’d like broadcast live over UITV, be sure to contact us about event location.

Most UITV production is done on location. Recording the homecoming parade for rebroadcast on UITV.

For tape-delay programming, UITV can take the original program from digital, miniDV, or DV sources. Simple program editing (such as adding titles or deleting pre-program recording) can be easily done. UITV staff can provide additional program editing support (such as combining multiple sources), but may charge for this service depending on the amount of labor required.

Video is edited using Apple Final Cut Pro  non-linear editing software.

Studio 150 in North Lindquist is available for live or taped programs. The facility is co-managed with the College of Education. This location is ideal for interviews and panel discussions. Three Hitachi digital cameras can provide a variety of program shots. Be sure to contact UITV as far in advance as possible to reserve the studio.
