Voice Services - Caller ID Service

Displays number and name (if available) of the calling party. This feature requires a Caller ID compatible display phone. Although Caller ID for on-campus calling (5-digit dialing) has been available on digital display phones (Dterms) for many years, as part of the enhanced capabilities available through the Telephone Switch Replacement Project, Caller ID will be extended to most of the campus.

Incoming Calls:
Caller ID capable analog phones will display the calling party’s 5-digit on-campus number (no name) and the off-campus name and number (if available).

Dterm telephones will continue to display the calling party’s 5-digit campus extension number (no name) and will now display the off-campus name and number (if available).

Outgoing Calls:
Calls place to off campus numbers where the called party has Caller ID display capability (excluding long distance numbers carried through the ICN) will now display the campus extension number and “UNIV of IOWA” as the name display. Customers can block outgoing Caller ID name and number, at no cost for a limited time, by submitting the Caller ID Opt Out Form.

Please note: Availability of Caller ID name and number information (for both incoming and outgoing calls) is dependent on the technical capabilities of the local and long-distance telephone service providers serving a calling area. Caller ID is not available/supported by all telephone service providers.
